How are Profibus GSD files stored and used in the Profibus Configurator?

The Profibus Configurator initially does not contain any GSD information, except for the master module (the PLC). The first step to creating or editing a configuration in WorkShop is to add the GSD file(s) for the hardware you would like to configure into the Profibus Configurator’s Hardware Directory. COM Profibus users can find their GSD files in a single directory, usually C:\SIEMENS\CPBV51\gsd for current installations.
