Are there firewall settings that need to be considered on the server where the FTMaintenance SQL server instance is installed?
It depends. After FTMaintenance is installed, you may find that you cannot login to FTMaintenance. An error message will indicate that FTMaintenance cannot find the network instance of SQL Server. Typically, this is caused by the Windows Firewall blocking the SQL connection.
To determine if your connection issue is firewall related, disable Windows Firewall on the SQL Server, then try logging into FTMaintenance from a client PC. If you can now log into FTMaintenance, then the following Windows Firewall exceptions need to be added. After the exceptions are added, turn the firewall back on.
